Teachings from the Roses

Have you had the sublime opportunity to study with the roses this summer?

Dearest one, I hope so.

Being a student of the roses is nothing new.

For eons, humans have been drawn into the infinite spiral of enchantment and intoxication that IS the Rose.

Science says roses are 35 million years old, and today there are over 30,000 species.

How lucky are we to live on the same planet with the Rose People???

Today I recorded a 3-part mini series on Instagram, inspired by this question:

What can the roses teach us about life, love and leadership?

You can watch those videos here if you like 🌹

I love this question so much that a podcast on this single question is coming— stay tuned!

This is a delicious inquiry for summer, because you know what? The roses are delicate, and oh so temporary. They won't be with us much longer.

I am determined to S T O P and smell them; take in their beauty; learn from them in bloom, while I can.

As a preview, here's a few lessons we can learn from the roses...

🌹 We can be both delicate and fierce.
Roses have the softest, sweetest petals, and some mighty fierce thorns. Boundaries and intimacy. Both/and.

🌹 We can be in community while tending our personal needs for space + sovereignty.

Some roses grow in close clusters, while others grow sparsely with great distance between one another. You're allowed to determine your own needs and then hold your ground.

🌹 We require tending, nourishment and pruning to thrive.

Roses (the English varieties, at least) are notoriously difficult to grow. They require a lot of tending and nourishment, plus pollination, and we cannot forgo the most important process of pruning! While we often want to leave this step out, we all flourish with a process of pruning in the fall and winter months. Leave behind what you no longer need, and trust that come next spring and summer, life with come up roses!

Stay tuned for more on rose wisdom, coming via my podcast soon.

May the roses (and all the flowers) offer you an embodied reminder about the impermanence of this precious life, the importance of beauty, and the necessity of pausing to enjoy the divine perfumes...

From Mother Earth, to you, beloved
🌹

On perfumed breezes,

Britta
