Anxious thoughts? Try this.
I don't need to rattle off the endless list of current triggering events. We all know it's intense on planet earth right now.
In service to filtering which thoughts are allowed to take up bandwidth in your brain...
My teacher Anuttara offers this metaphor:
Don’t serve those thoughts tea.
I quite enjoy this visualization!
A fearful thought pops in for a visit.
You briefly look up, tea pot poised.
The cup is there. You could pour forth your attention. You could engage.
Then you remember: you have a choice in the matter.
You politely decline and set the pot down.
You go back to your business.
The fearful thought shrugs and quietly wanders off.
It will be back.
You’ll have plenty more opportunities to powerfully decide whether or not to serve that thought tea.
You’re good at getting a lot done. Too good.
