Because music is medicine
Hi dear,
Here’s your monthly edition of The Goods, resources I pass onto you because they’re making my life better… and I want your life to feel better, too!
This month we celebrate musically, because why not? Because music is medicine. Because we all need some harmonic attunement.
Let’s go.
✨ Music, by Andy Fischer-Price
Ben and I recently met and befriended Andy, who has a voice like an angel and is an incredible channel for musical magic. This track is lovely.
💎 Playlist: Visionary Sultry Summer
This is one of 4 seasonally-inspired playlists I created last year. It has some beautiful melodies, heart-opening grooves, sensual invitations into your second chakra, and more. I recommend playing it from start to finish, but shuffle is also an option.
⚡️ Power Songs: a live no-fluff, therapeutic songwriting workshop
Join me on Aug 30th from 11a-1p PT for a simple and doable songwriting workshop. You will learn my easy breezy strategy and actually write a song during the workshop! Recording will be available to all who register, along with a downloadable PDF playbook.

🌹 Prodigal Daughter - new album by Lyndsey Scott
{42 min listen} I love this album so hard. Gorgeous. Deep. Stirring. Raw. Support the artist by purchasing on Bandcamp, or listening for free on Spotify.
🎹 Norah Jones is Playing Along: with Valerie June
{1h 9m listen} I love Valerie June, and this podcast tells a beautiful story of her life, family, musical background and what she’s up to. Plus, how Norah plays some of her songs and those harmonies they hit… yes.
🤍 Song exploder: Seal’s Kiss from a Rose
{23 min listen} Song Exploder is a really fun podcast for music geeks. The host takes a single song and looks into the bowels of its making to discover the spirit, nuance, layers, production and story of how it came into being. I love Seal, and this song is *chef’s kiss*.
🌈 Jacob Collier turning Glastonbury into a gigantic choir
{1 min watch} We used to do somewhat similar exercises in our choir… but this is definitely next level.
🔥 Summertime - an operatic aria
{4 min watch} This summer, I learned this song on guitar after loving the many renditions I’ve heard over the years. However, I never heard the *original* opera composition until recently, when I found this on YT. Wow.
💃🏻 Great dancing... because we can’t pretend music is separate from dance
1 - Her grin next to the stoic monk is priceless
2- Hard to sum up this epic Michael Jackson medly situation
3 - I’m pretty sure this will make you smile
4 - So many things I gush over on this runway-turned-dance party
And lastly…
⛅️ Bonus: A 2-minute video on cynicism versus hope.
Not musical. But well worth watching.
May we remember that even in our darkest moments, even when we’re most in need of help, even if we don’t know what else to do… we can reach for music.
Xo,
